But also very rewarding for the most part 8^). I have contacted all those for whom I have email addresses but in many cases I have not heard back from you. I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it if those of you receiving and hopefully enjoying my Encina updates, but who have not submitted their contact information, would please take the time to do so now: http://www.encinahighschool.com/directory/submit_contact.htm No lurkers please! Support the website by participating in the Encina alumni database and class directories. Of course, I respect your right to privacy and none of the information you submit will be published on the website without your permission. But at least it will be available in the database when the time comes to contact you about reunions or other Encina activities. VIETNAM Ray Sodini 68 wrote: One other person to add to the list of Viet Nam casualties might be Peter Prosserpi class of 68. Although his death occurred after his return to civilian life, it was from a very rampant form of cancer that was blamed on his exposure to agent orange, a very powerful defoliant that was used over there. Other vets of that war that I know of - myself and Doyle Ratliff, both class of 68. Unknown to both of us, our paths crossed in Da Nang sometime in late 69. In my own opinion, anyone who lived during that war, whether they fought it or protested against it, is a veteran of that war. Quite a large number of us were unwilling "volunteers". I said I had read the name Russell Arent on the California Memorial. I was wrong on the first name. It's Sgt. Kenneth Jacob Arent born July 22, 1944. Lost Nov 2, 1967. This information is from the index data for the Wall in Wash DC. Sorry if I caused anyone grief. Per Bill Hessers' of last week. PFC Richard Griffith Philbin (64) born May 13, 1946 Lost Feb 2 ,1966. PFC Daniel Ray Twitty (66or67 ?) born July 30,1948 Lost April 6, 1968. For Randi Muller-Kemper, PFC Herbert Earnest Frenzell born June 20,1944 Lost Jan. 21,1976. Again, this data is from the index for the Wall I would ask that someone please confirm that Kenneth Jacob Arent (61or62) attended Encina by looking in a yearbook. I am handicapped by not having any yearbooks. Greg Vitaich 62 called the Vietnam Veterans Memorial ("The Wall") and they are faxing him a list of all those from Sacramento who were lost. The URL of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is www.vvmf.org Please let me know if Kenneth Arent was Encina 61 or 62. I do not have any yearbooks prior to 1970. FAME Kerry Shearer 72 wrote: I just spotted the note from Lauren Zdybel regarding my brother Kirt. Kirt Shearer ('80) co-owns Paradise Studios in Sacramento with his longtime friend Craig Long, and has indeed recorded and mixed albums for artists Tony Toni Tone, Cake, and the tempermental Bobbie Brown (during periods when Bobbie is actually released from jail!!!). In addition, Kirt and Craig do a great deal of commercial production for clients nationwide, audio-for-video, and special projects. They are just finishing a month-long, complete, down-to-the-studs remodeling of the interior of their studio facility, which has the largest "main room" of any audio studio in the region. Kirt is also proficient at planning and installing large-scale sound systems in large facilities such as churches and theaters, and is active as sound designer and engineer in many local theater productions. In their "spare" time, Kirt and Craig are using their musical expertise and songwriting abilities to produce their own music. CLASS VIDEOS Stephanie Woo wrote: The Class of '96 had an end-of-the-year video made commercially using still photos and music. The members of the Class of '97 took it upon themselves to make their own video (with an emphasis on the Academy of Business Careers). Both videos were shown at the Senior Luncheon. If anyone is interested in copies of these videos, let me know. BASKETBALL Deborah Young writes: Encina had another victory on 1/14/99 against Golden Serria at Encina. Encina 73 and Golden Serria 46! So I called him to make sure it was O.K. to forward his information... I know of his whereabouts thru my son, Frank Bravo (class of '92) as he had Mr. Botello as a teacher and they have remained friends. He was Frank's photographer at his wedding here in Sacto last July 97. (and did a super job too!!) He and his wife are currently semi-retired in Murrieta, California. Their address is: 25064 Calle Viejo Murrieta, CA 92563, (909) 677-6001. I asked him if he had E-mail and he said they were working on getting a computer!! He also said a former student of his (I think with last name of Shields sent him a letter about a 20th class reunion but he hadn't replied yet but said it was O.K. to let all know that he is alive and kicking at the above info.... So please email me about any corrections or typos. Some day I may figure out how to do this automagically. In the class directories, many listings say "contact webmaster" or "care of webmaster". "care of webmaster" indicates I have an email address but do not have permission to publish it in the class directory. I will manually forward email if you send it to me. "contact webmaster" indicates that I either have contact information (but no email) or know somebody who knows how to contact this alumni. This third party is usually a sibling or classmate. SIBLINGS & CLASSMATES Some of you may wonder why I'm always asking for the names of your siblings and classmates. I add them to the Encina alumni database and make a note that interested parties should be referred to the third party for whom I have contact information. I also add their name to the class directories so that if someone is looking for them, I can refer them to a third party who knows how to reach them. So for those of you who haven't sent me information about your siblings, PLEASE take a moment to send me their names and class years! No contact information is necessary although I would certainly appreciate an email address. This also applies to Encina classmates you are in contact with. This way, you do not have to disclose any private contact information, just name and class year! THANKS I really appreciate those of you who have taken the time to send in your contact information and bios, especially those of you who've listed siblings and friends. This greatly expands the alumni listings and makes the class directories a better resource. There's a continual stream of new listings now and this should lead to better attendance at future reunions as we track down more lost alumni. Thank you for your support... Harlan Encina webmaster
