I would like to emphasize that when you email me, please sign your
mail with your full name and class year. There are over 500 alumni
on the Encina mailing list it makes life easier for me.

Also, if you write and do not wish to be quoted in these updates, 
please make a note to this effect in your email.


VIETNAM

Kamala Peterson found her old friend Julie Baxter 83.

Neal Francino 82 is in contact with Robert Watson 79 and Mark Posehn 79 
(now Mark Nelson).

Kelly Horine 88 wrote about Kim Thorstad 91:
"If you still need the scoop on Kim Thorstad, I know all of it. 
Its very sad so be prepared. Most know that she was in an auto accident 
in high school that left her in a coma. After years of rehab, she
learned 
to walk and talk again. She even went back to high school. Shortly
after 
she graduated, a man broke into her home and kicked her so many times 
that she went in to a coma again. She is now in a wheel chair, deaf, 
and she can not speak much at all. She requires 24hr care. I visited 
with her in October, and she knew who I was. She has known me all of 
her life though. If anybody has any questions you can call.

"Wanted to let you know. Chris Von Sonn of class of 1983 passed away in
1994. This was extremely sad and sudden. Chris had a liver condition 
and actually had surpassed all of the doctors expectations for some 
25-30 years. He passed away during a dialysis treatment. My husband 
and I were very close friends of his. It was very sad for all of us 
who knew him as Chris was one of the most sincere and loving people 
you will ever meet. We miss him with every passing day and he will 
always be in our hearts."

"I'm sorry that my first contribution to the alumni search is such a sad
thing. Christopher Von Sonn died of heart failure in 1994 while on a
dialysis machine in an Los Angeles area hospital.

Several friends, including me, attended the memorial services. We heard
(some of us for the first time) how Chris had battled with illness from
the day he was born. He achieved many of his life goals, including the
sale of a sitcom idea to a major network. We miss him and honor his
memory whenever the "old gang" gets together."

at the funeral. He was living in Los Angeles and had just sold a script

This is a very cool service for when you're picking up someone
at the airport and want to know if their flight is on time.

For those of you without internet access (Juno) or without internet 
access at home, check out NetZero (www.netzero.com). This ISP is FREE 
and is supported by ads. They claim to have grown to over 200,000 
subscribers in there three month existence. If you're interested I'll 
forward you the article in Red Herring magazine about them. Note that 
I have no personal experience with NetZero, but I would be interested 
in hearing from anyone who does.

ZELDA 64

I received the Nintendo Zelda 64 game for Christmas and this is one 
amazing game. I wasted untold hours over the holidays and the kids 
were captivated. Best Nintendo 64 game since Super Mario 64. Here's

MICE

I've heard noises from our attic and when I investigated, it appears 
that we have mice as there are little droppings. All our eave vents 
are screened and I can't locate where they are getting in. I don't 
want to poison them and have dead mice decaying. Trapping is a 
possibility. A relative recommended installing an ultrasonic pest 
repeller to discourage mice by making it uncomfortable for them. 
Has anyone had success with ultrasonic pest repellers? I would 
appreciate any suggestions.
