Sent: Tuesday, October 17, 2000 5:15 PM Subject: Encina Update (joe lawrence/football/nametags/publicity/clothing/rally/preparty/homecoming/parade/float/rsvps/siblings/missing/nancy downs/teachers/bios/deaths/whats new) ENCINA ALUMNI, This week's update is sponsored by Lora Saunders 67. Sponsors are those who have contributed funds towards the homecoming party and website expenses. Contributions from classes who have benefited from the website and update are especially welcome! This weekend is a big one! Homecoming 2000 party on Friday, October 20th. Class of 70's 30 year reunion on Saturday, October 21th. Class of 90's 10 year reunion on Saturday, October 21th. I recently received RSVPs from Encina teachers Gayle Kernick, Joe Lawrence, Bob Rollins, Nileta Morton, Robin Arnold, Becky Ewert and Russ Hibbard. We got our first rsvp from the classes of 95 and 96 this week! We're up to five convertibles for the student prince and princesses for the homecoming parade. We could use four more. Please help! Many thanks to those of you who have contributed towards the homecoming party expenses! JOE LAWRENCE I would like to share some excerpts from mail I've received from Joe Lawrence this week. Joe just cracks me up. I'm sorry I never had Joe for a class. "My wife and daughter are bring out thumbscrews and putting on the pressure for me to attend the Encina Homecoming. I have been directed by those "who commands cannot be ignored" to stop being such a curmudgeon." Guess you can put me down as a "yes." Amy (daughter) just showed me a new dress she just bought for the occasion, so I'm locked in. (Just a pawn to the whims of women) My daughter Amy went to El Camino (Boooooooo)--the school that put the DA in FunDAmental. She bought a new dress for the occasion to pressure me into going. I have a scanner and a pic of me from that era I'd love to send you...just haven't figured out how to work the scanner yet (frustrating). Sorry about the typos on the other e-mail I sent; it's hard to keep my concentration when both wife and daughter are yelling at me. Believe it or not, I'm a shy soul who doesn't do well at parties. B C N U on Friday." You know, alumni have described Joe in many ways in their bios, but "shy" was not one of them... It will be a great loss when Joe retires this year. If you think you can help Joe with his scanner write him at jnjlawrence@earthlink.net . I want to see this picture... FOOTBALL Encina defeated Mesa Verde 8-6 on Friday night and is now 5-0-1. Can you say undefeated! I talked with Russ Hibbard today and it was a real defensive struggle against Mesa Verde. Mesa Verde was a tough opponent and the league champ in years past. Mesa Verde's quarterback went out with a broken ankle during the game but Encina's quarterback was injured in the last quarter too, although they hope to have him back by Friday's game. Russ said they have to clean up after the game, but he'll try to stop by the cafeteria and visit the homecoming party. Come to the homecoming game and cheer on Encina's team! "They're Bulldog tough. BJ Mitchell helps lead Encina to best start in years" http://www.sacbee.com/neighbors/show_story.cgi?20001012/ac-525821Mtxt Read this article and get psyched up for the game! NAMETAGS I will be printing nametags shortly. If you have rsvped for the rally or homecoming party, please check the homecoming 2000 page and make sure your name appears under your class. Also, check that the spelling is correct. This is the master list which will be used to generate the nametags. http://www.encinahighschool.com/homecoming/homecoming2000.htm PUBLICITY We would like to contact tv personalities Tiff Duhain 68 and Harry Stockman 68 about media coverage. If you know how to reach either of them please contact me ASAP. Cornelia Whitaker has been talking to the Sacramento Bee, trying to convince them of the newsworthiness of the Encina Homecoming party. Cornelia is hoping to get an article and maybe a reporter at the party if things work out. Lance Ballance 85 wrote: "Just wanted to let you know that today, thursday, & friday, from 10am to 3pm, I'll be giving the Encina homepage a plug on our studio Webcam. Here's the address: http://kbig.ware.net/cam.html Just spreading the word to my SoCal audience!!" Kerry Shearer 72 wrote: "We were too late for the public service directors who generally like 4-6 weeks notice, but we'll get some good plugs on Y/92-FM, where I know the morning team, and I think I'll have luck with KFBK, since I fill in doing traffic there." Jan Heintz Hammon 75 wrote: "was listening to the radio this morning & somebody was on the phone with the deejays talking about the reunion..... it was just a passing conversation....one of the dj's has a son in highschool & their homecoming is this weekend too..." ALUMNI CLOTHING Lorna will be picking up the order Friday afternoon at noon. You will be able to pick up your clothes order at the pregame party starting at 5pm. I know that some of you wanted your order in time for the morning rally, but Lorna says that will not be possible. Just dig out your 70s clothes or Encina gym clothes to wear to the rally. If anyone has access to a clothing rack, Lorna would like to borrow it at the party to hang and organize the alumni clothing. Please let me know if you have one we can borrow for the evening. HOMECOMING RALLY The attendance continues to grow for the rally! We have about 50 folks signed up so far. Please check the list below if you signed up and make sure you are on it! I will bring namebadges for those who are signed up. Teachers Stafford Boyd 88, John Knurr and Orlin Schuler will also be at the rally. The alumni will have their own section of the stands between the juniors and the seniors (who have smaller classes than freshman and sophomores). Encina will need 3 or so alumni for judging the classes. The following folks have volunteered to judge the classes: Bonnie McFarland Kaplan 63 Randy Owens 71 Steve Palmer 74 Jan Heintz Hammons 75 Janna Snedden Curtis 83 Doralynn Co 94 Linh Smith 94 Some of us will be having lunch lunch at Applebee's near Encina after the rally. This is the Applebee's which has the Encina memorabilia on display. Let me know if you want to join us so we can make a reservation. The students would like us to dress in clothes from the era we attended Encina if possible. Date: Friday, October 20, 2000 Time: 1100 to 1130am Place: Encina HS gym Lunch at Applebee's Time: about 1215 Here are the RSVPs for the homecoming rally: Teachers - John Knurr Orlin Schuler Stafford Boyd 88 Alumni - Bonnie McFarland Kaplan 63 (judge,Applebee's) Rollin Coxe 64 Kathy Cooper Luken 66 David Babayco 67 Michael Brown 69 James Barbeau 70 Kris Grasso Elmer 70 Paul Whatley 70 Susan Bly Whatley 71 Nancy Cooper Manly 71 Randy Owens 71 (judge) Gail Haynes Veri 73 Harlan Lau 73 (Applebee's) Rett Smart 73 Mike Berry 74 Sande Byerley Jaeke 74 Julie Eissinger Meador 74 Terrea Harlan Sherman 74 Terri Jurich Howard 74 Steve Palmer 74 (judge,Applebee's) Jan Heintz Hammon 75 (judge, Applebee's) Scott Palmer 75 Susanne Pierson Currie 75 Marla Byerley 76 Karen Dellinger Nissen 76 Sue Schneider 76 Laura Vasquez Lavallee 77 (Applebee's) Kim Tierney 78 Kathleen O'Neill Cabe 79 (Applebee's) Janet Russel Mason 79 Debi Hobday 80/81 John McManus 81 Jolanne Tierney 81 Darlene Balestrine Leydig 83 Andrea Howard 83 and mother Carol Howard Erik Hutton 83 Samantha Schell 83 Janna Snedden Curtis 83 (judge) Jeff Howser 86 Marci Sanschagrin Howser 86 Jinne Horger Webb 90 Angela Kern Mueller 90 John Adorador 92 Sarah Martasian 92 Doralynn Co 94 (judge) Linh Smith 94 (judge) You can see pictures from last year's rally here; http://www.encinahighschool.com/homecoming/homecoming99/rally.htm Please let me know if you plan to attend the homecoming rally. If you attend you need to check in at the front office and I need to provide Encina with the names of the alumni who will be attending the rally. HOMECOMING PREPARTY Encina staff John Knurr, Orlin Schuler and Ginny Privateer will be at the Rock. Ginny invites other Encina staff and alumni to join them at the Candlerock before the pregame party at El Camino. "The Class of '73 is having a pre party Friday, October 20th from 4pm to 6pm at the Candlerock Lounge next to country club lanes! Anyone from the classes of 70,71,72,and 73 are strongly encouraged to attend. (smaller venue with drinks and food before facing the masses at El Camino). Please, no name tags or food.....we will survive on what we find at the Rock. Call me if you have questions @ (916) 362-5592 Rett Smart '73" HOMECOMING PARTY *** NEW *** Some folks seem to have the mistaken impression that we have providing free food at the homecoming party. Beep. Wrong. We will have some drinks and snacks to get started but we are asking attendees to bring drinks and snack to share. And to bring dinner (tailgate) or buy burgers from the students or at the game. Just to make it clear admission is free, food is NOT. Becky Hurley confirmed the food plans for Friday. The students will be selling a burger, chips and a soda for $5 at the pregame party and at the game. Parking will be a problem with the number of folks who are coming. Lorna Cline Gragg 72/73 informs me that if you are coming north on Eastern, you can turn right into a big parking lot before you reach the school. You may want to try this parking lot if the parking lot on El Camino is full. Date: Friday, October 20, 2000 Event: Preparty Time: 4pm to 6pm Place: Candlerock Lounge (near Country Club Lanes) Event: Pregame party Time: 5pm to 730pm Place: El Camino HS cafeteria Event: Homecoming game/parade Time: 730pm to 930pm Place: El Camino HS stadium Event: Postgame party Time: 930pm to midnight Place: El Camino HS cafeteria WARNING: No ALCOHOL or SMOKING is permitted on campus! I think the the El Camino cafeteria will be a very good location for the homecoming party as you can easily walk back and forth between the homecoming party and the homecoming game in the stadium. In addition, the cafeteria can accomodate up to 700 people (standing) so we should have plenty of room for alumni, staff and their families. Food: Bring your own food (like a picnic or tailgate), along with a sixpack of NONALCOHOLIC drinks and bag of chips to share. Or buy burgers from the students or at the game and support Encina. Drinks/Snacks: We will have ice chests, ice, snack bowls along with a few drinks and snacks to get started, but not enough for everyone. Please bring a sixpack of drinks and a bag of chips or the like to share. Classes: We will have class year posters in 5 year increments (1961-65 ... 1995-2000) around the perimeter of the cafeteria. There will be space to print your name and class year on the poster so folks can see who is at the party. This also provides a unofficial record of attendance of sorts. Music: Jolanne Tierney 81 has volunteered to DJ for the party. Send your requests to jamminjo@email.msn.com . Thanks Jolanne! Family: Spouses and significant others are welcome. Those of you who are taking your family to the homecoming game are welcome to bring your children to the pregame party but we are not planning any entertainment for children and you should bring something to entertain them. This is first and foremost an alumni event and I neither encourage or discourage children. I felt holding the pregame party at the Candlestick last year discouraged those with children so El Camino is sort of a neutral location. Security: We will have off duty sheriffs patrolling the event and locking up. No alcohol please. We need to be on our best behaviour if we are to use school facilities for future homecoming parties. HOMECOMING PARADE We will have four alumni cars in the homecoming parade plus a jeep to pull the float. The drivers in parade for alumni: Eleanor Brown: Red 87 Porsche Targa Cynthia Connell 73: Light green 68 Mustang convertible Chris Wicks 67: Light green 68 Mustang convertible Linda Weatherford Ballance 62: Dark Green 96 Chryler Sebring Greg Grant 75 (pulling float): Open Jeep The teachers and staff are inviting to ride in the alumni cars in the homecoming parade. We can also accomodate a teacher or two on the alumni float. The students need NINE convertibles for the homecoming parade. There was a student working at a car dealer who was going to provide cars but he no longer works there. If you would be willing to drive your convertible in the parade please let me know! I know we have a lot of convertibles out there. I've only lined up five cars so far. If you have a convertible we can use in the parade please write. Drivers in parade for students: Lorna Cline Gragg 72/73: Open Jeep Heide Mathews Boullt 78: VW Rabbit convertible Jerry Burks 71: 86 white Mustang convertible Susanne Pierson Currie 75: 92 Chrysler LeBaron convertible Kris Grasso Elmer 70: white 96 white Chrysler Sebring I understand Rick Niello 64 owns Niello Volkswagen. If anyone is in touch with Rick and can let him know the students need more convertibles, that would be great! HOMECOMING FLOAT Paul Stewart 76 wrote: "OK the float is 95 percent finished. We had a lot of fun working on it this weekend, but we worked. I'll be doing a few additions to it this week. Jim Bain is supposed to take a snappy picture of it and e-mail it to you. Give you more details later. The "big ride" is coming." Later Paul wrote: "Can't wait till you see the float. Hope you can find a teacher willing to go on the big ride. Adding up the supplies that we bought and actually used, the entire float was built for under $75 bucks. Most of it was built from things we had laying around. It's just that we had a lot of things laying around. Including a bunch of us old Sierra Oaks buddies. It would be disrespectfull to have spent too much on the float. I encourage people to donate money to the Encina athletic department. However money for supplies was donated by Dennis Peck '76 and Steve Kearney '73. Here's a list of people who worked on the float with a special thanks to Lisa Roland's Dad for loaning us the trailer. Gary Kennedy, Jim Bain '78, Don Hagy '76 and both his kids. (Kathleen O'Neil Cabe '78 is loaning us her disco ball.) Sande Jaeke '74 and her friend Chris Moser Taylor '78 also came by and were very valuable workers and it was fun to meet new people." If any of the Encina teachers and staff coming to the party would like to ride on the float, please contact Paul Stewart at pstewart@internow.com HOMECOMING RSVPS We have about about 398 RSVPs from Encina alumni and staff, not counting guests or family! Note that all current Encina teachers and staff are invited to the homecoming party! Unfortunately, we can not accomodate current students due to our agreement with the administrators. I am contacting the teachers and staff to confirm the still plan to attend the homecoming party. I've marked those who have confirmed so far. We've had some inevitable fallout so check to see the teachers you wanted to see are still able to come. Tywa Phillips 96 wrote that a key factor was: "Seeing that some of my favorite teachers will be attending, and that some classes ahead of me will be there also." Encina teacher Gayle Kernick will be coming. Gayle wrote: "Teaching assignments included U.S. History, World History, American Government and American Problems during the 1960's. I returned to Encina from l987 to 1990 as Vice Principal. FYI, my wife and I share the same first name. I am Gayle and she is Gail and she may attend some of the Homecoming festivities as well." Bob Rollins wrote: "Thank you for the recent invitation to the special Encina High School Homecoming 2000. I plan on being there for at least part of the event, probably the pregame tailgate dinner and part of the game. Thanks again for the notice." Myrtle Berry has told the Encina teachers and staff that they are invited to the party. Heddy Crowder sent me this list of rsvps she has received: Nileta Morton - reading/foods Robin Arnold - English Becky Ewert - Instructional assistant Don Brodnansky - Science/Dept Chair Connie Sutliff wrote: "I regret that I will be unable to attend the homecoming this Friday. Thank you for inviting me though" Stephanie Woo wrote that Bob Kirrene was back from Ireland. I talked with Bob this morning and he's very disappointed that he won't be able to make it. His son is driving up from the Bay Area for a birthday dinner Friday night. John Eaton wrote: "Sorry, I will not be able to attend the homecoming. Thank you for the invitation." I talked with Eric Dahlin. Eric has a potential conflict with a family reunion but guesses there's an 80% probability that he'll be at the game and the party. Especially since he told Becky Hurley that he would help the students cook burgers! I talked with librarian Sharon Peterson and she already had plans and will not be able to attend this year. Sharon's husband told me he thought her email address was speterson@rjuhsc.k12.ca.us in the Roseville district. However, the rjuhsc part seems to be wrong. Any know the correct address for the Roseville school district? Ed Galloway also had a previous engagement. My brother Bert Lau 81 will be coming, along with my mother Mary Lau (Greer Elementary School). The rsvps are distributed as follows: staff: 39 1961: 8 1962: 4 1963: 1 1964: 3 1965: 10 1966: 1 1967: 5 1968: 5 1969: 3 1970: 20 1971: 11 1972: 10 1973: 35 (first) 1974: 17 1975: 17 1976: 13 1977: 11 1978: 17 1979: 12 1980: 11 1981: 15 1982: 6 1983: 9 1984: 3 1985: 26 (second) 1986: 23 (third) 1987: 7 1988: 6 1989: 6 1990: 10 1991: 12 1992: 8 1993: 9 1994: 3 1995: 1 1996: 1 1997: - 1998: - 1999: - 2000: - ---------- Total:398 The class of 85 is in sole possesion of second place this week. Based on the messages passing back and forth on the 80 mailing list, the reunion weekend was a big success and everyone had a great time renewing old friendships. If folks would like to send me pictures, I would be glad to add them to the 80 homepage... 1990 REUNION Date: Saturday, October 21, 2000 Place: Delta King on the Sacramento River in Old Sacramento Dear Class of 1990 Alumni, Just a little update on where things are at for the reunion, Saturday, October 21st, 2000. We are receiving more checks for the reunion each day. We are also being contacted by alumni we previously couldn't reach, like Shannon Radford and Lisa De Leon. Thanks to the people who contacted them for us. We have already sent out our last mailing and out of more than 120 letters and postcards we've sent , only 2 have been returned for one reason or another. We were able to negotiate the menu we wanted thanks to all the people who sent their checks in prior to the original October 1st due date. We have extended the last date for checks to October 17th, but can't make any exceptions after that. The cost is $45.00 per person. The checks should be made out to "Denise Bellinger Class of '90" and mailed to Denise Bellinger, 9044 El Cajon Way, Sacramento, Ca. 95826, before October 17th. The reunion is aboard the historic Delta King, in the Jenny Lind and Yosemite rooms. The no host bar will open around 7 pm and professional photographer, Bill Markell will be taking portraits for a small fee, including postage, by the sign in table. We will have name tags for alumni and dates. Dinner will be at 8pm. We will be having a choice of Roasted Tri-Tip or Breast of Chicken in a Champagne Mushroom sauce. We have to end by 11pm, but we're hoping alumni will keep the party going in one of the hot spots downtown even later. We are also encouraging alumni to attend the Homecoming activities at Encina. The rally is Friday, October 20th at 11am, the pre game party that night at El Camino is at 5:30, and the Varsity Football game starts at 7pm. Please RSVP on the Encina web site for these activities. Lots to do!! Finally, to all the alumni, those attending the reunion, and those not attending, please keep in touch, either by updating your information on the Encina web site when you move or leaving your new address with the Encina front desk. So whether it's two weeks from now, or five years from now at the next reunion, we look forward to seeing you. Denise M. A TEACHER IN THE 21ST CENTURY "Let me see if I've got this right. You want me to go into that room with all those kids and fill their every waking moment with a love for learning. Not only that, I'm to instill a sense of pride in their ethnicity, behaviorally modify disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse and T-shirt messages. "I am to fight the war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, check their backpacks for guns and raise their self-esteem. I'm to teach them patriotism, good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, how and where to register to vote, how to balance a checkbook and how to apply for a job. "I am to check their heads occasionally for lice, maintain a safe environment, recognize signs of potential anti-social behavior, offer advice, write letters of recommendation for student employment and scholarships, encourage respect for the cultural diversity of others, and, oh yeah, always make sure that I give the girls in my class 50 percent of my attention. "I'm required by my contract to be working on my own time summer and evenings at my own expense toward advance certification and a master's degree; and after school, I am to attend committee and faculty meetings and participate in staff development training to maintain my employment status. "I am to be a paragon of virtue larger than life, such that my very presence will awe my students into being obedient and respectful of authority. "I am to pledge allegiance to supporting family values, a return to the basics, and to my current administration. I am to incorporate technology into the learning, and monitor all Web sites while providing a personal relationship with each student. "I am to decide who might be potentially dangerous and/or liable to commit crimes in school or who is possibly being abused, and I can be sent to jail for not mentioning these suspicions. "I am to make sure all students pass the state and federally mandated testing and all classes, whether or not they attend school on a regular basis or complete any of the work assigned. Plus, I am expected to make sure that all of the students with handicaps are guaranteed a free and equal education, regardless of their mental or physical handicap. "I am to communicate frequently with each student's parent by letter, phone, newsletter and grade card. I'm to do all of this with just a piece of chalk, a computer, a few books, a bulletin board, a 45 minute more-or-less plan time and a big smile, all on a starting salary that qualifies my family for food stamps in many states. Is that all?" BIOS MARY DISTASIO 80 Occupation: Manager of Strategic Services Bio: Let's see......I went to Sac State, on the 5 year plan, and graduated with a degree in Psychology in 1985; 2 months later I married my college sweetheart and we just celebrated 15 years of married bliss this past August! I have 2 wonderful children, T.J.(10) and Katie (7) and have been working fulltime also. We have found time to travel, mainly to the East Coast, but for the past 2 summers we have been very fortunate to go to Maui for vacation (no cellphones, no pagers, life is great). Friends: Becky Pires Granroth, Carol Luna Miller, Denise Ford, Lisa Mensch Styles, Carole Salerno---we all were able to reconnect at the reunion--watch out, the e-mail will be flying! He is our actor and loves to tell jokes. Katie Marie is 7 and is our tomboy! She loves sports even more than her brother. She has been playing Little League since she was 4 and last Christmas, asked Santa to bring her catcher's gear for Christmas! She also loves playing with her Barbie dolls, especially in the tub,(where Ken always seems to be drowning and Barbie has to help him....). Her dream is to play basketball at Stanford (hey, her pediatrician said she would be 5'10"). Junior_high: Jonas Salk Junior_high_friends: Matt Albright, Julie Cox; Tim went to Jonas Salk, but we didn't know each other then. Memorable_teachers: My English teachers, Mrs. Takeuchi, Mrs. MacKenzie, and Mr. Lawrence--we bonded over depressing literature. I'm grateful to them, because they pushed me hard to develop my writing and critical thinking skills. At that time I thought I was going to be a dancer, but I think they knew better! Favorite_memory: My favorite memories have to do with drill team practice and performances. One of my least favorite memories is being voted a runner-up for the biggest ego award senior year, which really hurt my feelings. Story: John Montero gave Mrs. MacKenzie a copy of Interview Magazine that Andy Warhol had signed at the opening of the K Street Mall Emporium, I think. She wasn't that into Andy Warhol, but knew that I was, so she gave it to me when I graduated. I got it framed, and it's hung on the wall of every place I've lived since high school. MARIUS FINE 88 Occupation: Lead Project Engineer Bio: Since graduation, I attended CSU Sacramento and received my BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology. After college, I worked in Napa for a couple of years at a generic pharmaceutical manufacturer building clean rooms and developing pharmaceutical manufacturing processes for respiratory inhalents. My next career move took me to Redwood City, where I worked for a drug development company developing a soon to be released 7-day transdermal patch (the patches you wear for smoking) as a replacement for the daily birth control pill. (Ladies keep an eye out for it in 2001). After a year and half, I moved on to my current position as a Lead Project Engineer for a small pre-IPO medical device company in San Jose. Currently, I lead the design engineering for the companies disposable test strip group. Starting at a company as the 17th employee has been a real challenge, and has inspired me to go back to school to get my MBA. I hope to be starting in Fall 2001. During this entire time, I met a wonderful person and we are "shacking down" in the Summer 2001. (Just in time for me to call her "Sugar Mama") Trivia: Played Intercollegiate volleyball at Sac State (with Jon Saxton) and travelled around the US competing against other non-Division I schools. We even were able to play against some Division I schools and future US Olympians. Friends: Paul Hedglin, Robert Whaley (Thompson), Tom Spencer, Leslie Chang, Jon Saxton, man I can't think of everyone it has been so long. After high school I became really close friends with Josh Martin and his family. Hobbies: Activities: golf (I wish I was better at hitting those darn little balls), basketball (GO KINGS!!), volleyball (I haven't played in months), snowboarding, fantasy football (I have a web site too!), hiking, scuba diving, mountain biking, and softball. Kids: I have none (that I know of anyway, just kidding). Grade_school: 5th & 6th - Cottage Grade_school_friends: Paul Hedglin, Rob Whaley, Tom Spencer, Josh Martin, and Kevin Davis Junior_high: Jonas Salk Junior_high_friends: Jon Saxton, Rian Phillips, and Kevin Davis Memorable_teachers: Mr. Botello (photography) - brought out the artistic side of my engineering personality, Mr. Tracy (History) - we had a blast our Junior year hiding that darn hat, Ms. Takeuchi & Mrs. Pierce (English) - I was terrible at English, but I needed it. Favorite_memory: #1 (in a long list): Aaron Ford duct taping a Junior to a tree on Senior lawn up side down on Senior Week. I wonder what that guy is doing now, and does he remember it. #1.5 - Beer Olympics Alumni_in_contact: Josh Martin & Paul Hedglin Heard_about_website_from: Bill "the salesmen" Glaholt DEATHS ROI-ANNE "ANNIE" BAKER 74 Maxine Baker 76 wrote: My sister Roi-Anne graduated in 1974, she married Corey Deam McGuire (Class of 74) they had 3 children Shawn age 21; Jason age 19 and Sarah age 18. Joy wrote: Donald Curtis Chambers would have graduated in 1974. However in Ms Takeuchi's class, he was caught passng a Marlboro box full of "reds" and was expelled from class. He then attended El Escalon continuation school. He dropped out of this and later earned his GED and went on to get a contractor's license. He owned his own company, "Chambers and Chambers" out of Shingle Springs.
